- What information does RingClear collect from
me?
When you record a voice message over the telephone
by calling 1-800-768-6324, we temporarily store the
recording and then deliver the message to other people
at your direction either by calling them and playing
the message for them, or by sending the message as
an e-mail attachment or link. The content of your
messages is private and we do not review them. We
frequently delete messages from our systems and do
not permanently retain them unless required by law.
To deliver messages, we use the email addresses or
phone numbers provided either by you or by a previous
sender as a reply number. During delivery, RingClear
collects call progress information such as call connection,
busy, no answer, wrong number, answering machine,
hang-up, recipient keypad responses, call transfer,
call hold, call retry, message delivery, call completion
and date and time of message delivery.
In addition, RingClear collects other types of information,
such as the Internet protocol address provided by
your web browser, phone numbers or e-mail addresses
that you enter, touch-tone and voice commands, the
automatic numbering information provided by the telephone
network (similar to caller ID-type information), or
any other information made available simply through
your use of RingClear, including your preferences
or usage patterns. We may also collect information
that we develop as you use RingClear or access third
party providers that operate through RingClear. Many
web sites recall information about visitors by using
cookies, which are small data elements that identify
you and allow password protection. RingClear may store
cookies on your computer's hard drive when you access
our web site, or on our own servers when you access
RingClear by telephone.
You do not need to register with RingClear to use
our services. To personalize and improve your experience
with RingClear you may choose to register by telephone
or through our web site by providing us with an Account
Phone Number and a Password. At our web site, you
may also provide additional information such as your
e-mail address, gender and age. Once registered, you
can use advanced RingClear options, such as the RingClear
Address Book, which allows you to store the phone
numbers and e-mail addresses of the people or groups
you communicate with using RingClear.
- How does RingClear use my information?
When sending a RingClear, we deliver your recorded
message to other people at your direction either by
calling the phone numbers you enter and playing the
message for them, or by sending the message as an
e-mail attachment or link. To determine where to deliver
the messages, we use email addresses or phone numbers
provided either by you or, in the case of a reply,
by the previous sender. To enable people to reply
to your RingClear, we may use the automatic numbering
information provided by the telephone network (similar
to caller ID-type information) to confirm a reply
number previously entered by the sender that is then
sent along with your RingClear. By using RingClear
to send a message, you agree to allow us to use the
automatic numbering information to recall your reply
number, regardless of whether or not you have chosen
to block your phone number for traditional live telephone
calls. If you do not wish to use the automatic numbering
information as your reply number, please do not use
our service.
When you access RingClear, we use information to improve
your RingClear experience. We may, for example, use
the telephone network automatic numbering information
to enable the people you communicate with using RingClear
to more easily reply to your message or to add you
to their RingClear Address Book. Other information
you provide may be used to communicate with you and
otherwise improve your experience using RingClear.
For example, we may use your email address to contact
you with information about RingClear or your phone
number to create an easy to remember account number.
We may supplement the information we collect with
information we obtain from third parties.
We are constantly working to improve RingClear and
make new services available to you, some of which
may use personal information.
- Will anybody else have access to my information?
Respecting your privacy is important to RingClear,
and so we take particular care in how we use and share
information that you provide us.
Information on how to contact people, which we call
"contact information," includes the phone
numbers and email address of you, the people in your
Address Book and the people to whom you send messages.
RingClear uses contact information to provide our
services to you and does not provide contact information
to other third parties without your express consent.
Information that cannot be used to identify people
specifically, which we call "anonymous information,"
may be provided to advertisers, Service Providers,
and other third parties. For example, we may provide
aggregate statistics, unique identifiers, demographic,
and other anonymous information to help these parties
provide their services to you.
While RingClear takes steps to protect your privacy,
we cannot guarantee that the message you send will
be delivered to the phone numbers you intended, or
that the person you intended to receive the message
will be the person who hears the message. It is possible,
for instance, to unintentionally send your RingClear
to a wrong number, or to have a different person to
answer the phone and hear the message. We also allow
the people who receive your messages to forward them
to other people or to record them into their answering
machine or voice mail system. Through these and other
features, we cannot guarantee that additional people
will not receive or permanently record your messages.
We also cannot guarantee that your private communications
and other personal information will never be disclosed
in ways not described in this policy. Third parties
may, for instance, unlawfully intercept or access
transmissions and private communications without our
consent. In addition, RingClear may disclose, at our
sole discretion, the content of messages, contact
information or other personal information if required
to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such
disclosure is reasonably necessary to (i) comply with
subpoenas, court orders, or the legal process, (ii)
respond to claims of a violation of the rights of
third parties, (iii) address violations by you of
our Terms of Use, or (iv) protect the rights, property
or safety of RingClear, our users or the public. RingClear
cannot accept any responsibility for accidental or
inadvertent disclosure, unauthorized access or for
other disclosure as required by law or described herein.
As we continue to develop our business, we might sell
or buy other companies or assets. In such transactions,
customer information generally is one of the transferred
business assets. Also, in the unlikely event that
RingClear, or substantially all of its assets are
acquired, customer information will of course be one
of the transferred assets.
- When I use RingClear, what information might
other Service Providers collect from me?
Other companies and individuals ("Service Providers")
may provide content or offer products or services
accessed through RingClear. RingClear is not responsible
for the actions, practices or content of Service Providers.
We neither guarantee that Service Providers will adhere
to suitable privacy standards nor accept responsibility
for their policies, information practices or other
actions. You alone are responsible for any information
that you provide to third parties through the use
of RingClear.
- What else can I do to protect my personal information?
To protect the information you provide to RingClear,
it is important for you to protect against unauthorized
access to your Password, to your telephone, and to
your computer. On the telephone, RingClear requires
a Password before accessing an account or Address
Book unless you ask us not to request your Password
each time. If you choose to disable your Password
at a particular phone number, please be sure all telephones
at that number at that number are secure. On the Internet,
RingClear works to protect the security of your information
during transmission by using the Secure Sockets Layer
(SSL) protocol, which encrypts information you input
using a web browser. To ensure proper security, you
must sign off when finished using a shared computer.
The best way to protect your privacy is always to
be careful when disclosing any personal information,
both in deciding what you reveal and to whom you reveal
it. For instance, RingClear may offer users the opportunity
to access phone calls, conference calls, chat rooms,
forums, talk lines, message boards, mailing lists,
and other communication areas. Please remember that
any information that is disclosed through such means
may become public information and you should exercise
caution when deciding to disclose any information
under these circumstances, particularly with respect
to personal information. We also recommend that you
do not share your Password with anyone. You are responsible
for maintaining the secrecy of your Password and any
account information.
- How can I block messages I don't want to receive?
RingClear does not allow unsolicited commercial messages.
When sending a RingClear, we require that the people
receiving your message be known either by you or by
the organization you represent.
If you have received an unsolicited message, you can
either block the number of the sender from sending
you messages, or block all future message calls from
all phone numbers, regardless of whom they are from.
To block messages, simply press seven (7) at any time
during a message to access the rejected RingClear
menu. From there, you can press three (3) to block
all future messages from the phone number of the previous
caller. When you press three (3) we will no longer
deliver messages to you that were sent from the phone
number of the previous caller. You can also press
four (4) to block all future messages from all phone
numbers. When you press four (4), we remove your phone
number from our service and you will no longer receive
messages, regardless of whom they are from. We do
not currently support viewing or editing of these
individual (3) or complete (4) blocks, although we
may offer this option in the future. Until then, we
may choose to expire both individual or complete blocks
after a period of time.
RingClear is not aware of and does not endorse the
content of any user communications. We of course cannot
assume responsibility for any threatening, libelous,
obscene, harassing or offensive material, any infringement
of third party intellectual property rights, or any
crime facilitated through the use of our communication
service.
- May I review, correct or delete my personal information?
RingClear allows users the ability to review, correct
or delete some of the personal account information
maintained by RingClear. These features can be found
in the "Account Options" page of our web
site at www.RingClear.com. To recover a lost Password,
simply email us at password@RingClear.com with your
Account Phone Number. We can then call you back at
that number to provide you with your Password.
- What safeguards are in place to protect the privacy
of children?
RingClear is concerned about the privacy and safety
of children. RingClear is not intended for children
under the age of 13. When RingClear does collect information
during registration on our web site, we do not knowingly
invite or permit individuals under the age of 13 to
use our service.
- Your Acceptance of this Privacy Policy and our
Terms of Use
By using RingClear, you signify your acknowledgement
and agreement to the RingClear Privacy Policy, as
well as our Terms of Use. If you do not agree with
this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use, please do
not use our service. As we noted above, we may change
our Privacy Policy occasionally. If we decide to change
our Privacy Policy, we will post those changes on
this page so that you can always be aware of what
information we collect, how we use it, and under what
circumstances we disclose it. Your continued use of
RingClear following the posting of any changes to
these terms on this web site will mean that you accept
those changes.
